Scott promises Royalists resurgence after FA Cup exit

8:00am Fri 5th Sep 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

Windsor & Eton FC boss Keith Scott has promised a Royalists resurgence after Aylesbury United ended their FA Cup affair on Saturday.

The boss was without seven players going into the crunch cup game, including goalkeeper Chico Ramos whose wife went into labour on the eve of the game.

Crippled by a large injury list, prospects of a shock win looked bleak, but spirits were momentarily raised when Windsor were awarded a second minute penalty.

Matt Seedel rattled the post from 12 yards and Aylesbury breathed a huge sigh of relief before putting the South & West side to the sword with a 2-0 win.

Succumbing after a brave fight, Scott was pleased with the effort shown from his young guns and hopes the taste of defeat will inspire success in the league.

“With so many first team players missing this was always going to be a very tough draw,” he said. “It was a big blow to lose the tie but I can’t fault the players effort.

“They did their best but it wasn’t enough.”

A stirring start to the season at Stag Meadow saw Windsor race towards the top of the league with six points from two games. But three league and cup defeats on the bounce has sullied that promising start.

Scott hopes the return of duo Ben Porter and Martin Williams will help the Royalists rediscover their early season goal scoring prowess and fire them up the league.

Both players are in contention for Windsor’s home game against Paulton Rovers tomorrow (Saturday) - another side pushing for promotion this season.

“Every game in the league this season is going to be difficult without exception,” said Scott. “Most of the teams are very evenly matched and I don’t expect any easy games.

“Aylesbury is disappointing, but we have to get on with it and try and pick up three points at home to Paulton.

“We are still moving toward our ultimate goal of a top five spot, and I have eternal belief that we can do it.”

- Former Windsor & Eton striker Adam Wallace has returned to Stag Meadow to bolster the Royalists strike force.

Wallace, who previously joined under manager Dave Carroll in 2005 from Basingstoke Town, moved onto Slough Town and then Fleet Town.

Wallace scored 14 times in 40 starts during his time at Stag Meadow.
