Dame Kelly Holmes to inspire cyclists on Sunday

Legendary athlete Dame Kelly Holmes is getting on her bike this Sunday.

The double gold medal-winning Olympian from Athens 2004, is taking part in the Prince's Trust Palace to Palace ride between Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.

Dame Kelly will join 3,000 other cyclists saddling up for the 45-mile ride along the Thames arriving on the Brocas at Eton around lunchtime.

Dame Kelly - who achieved fame when she won gold medals in both the 1500m and 800m in the Athens Olympics, said: "By fundraising through events like Palace to Palace, cyclists will have a fantastic time while enabling the trust to help even more young people who may not be able to get help elsewhere.

"I didn't have a privileged background at all so it's hugely important to me to believe in young people and their potential no matter what's gone on in their lives."
