Sex assault charges against teenager dropped

A teenager who was charged in connection with two sexual assaults on women in Slough has been released after more than five months in custody.
The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, two counts of sexual assault and one count of possession of an offensive weapon.
Charges related to an incident in Wexham Road on September 8 last year when a woman was reportedly stabbed with a 'bladed article' while walking along the canal bridge and another on September 10 in Maple Crescent when a woman was allegedly threatened and punched.
The teenager was in Feltham Remand Centre from September 13 until February 24, when the judge threw the case, saying there was not enough evidence to prove they had the right boy.
A police spokesman said it was 'regrettable' that the case has been discharged, and that 'all possible evidence gathering opportunities were pursued’.
He said: "We are not pursuing anyone else in connection with the incident."
