Sol Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams

Looking at the front cover of Sol Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams you expect it to be quirky and a little bit ghetto with a strong 70's vibe – and that's pretty much what you get.
Solange's second musical offering five years after her debut is altogether a richer more vibrant experience.
Hand-clap driven I Decided is a stand-out and bounces along with enough old-school soul to really make it different. The drum beat on Sandcastle Disco makes it beyond catchy and a definite keeper.
Solange's enjoyable voice more than proves she has the power to back up the soul route she's taken.
I like to think collaborators like The Neptunes and man of the moment Mark Ronson were drawn in by her talent rather than her surname – but it probably helped.
Oh yeah, didn't I say? She's Beyonce's sister.
