The Script

Think mellow indie-pop with sickly sweet boyband vocals and you've got The Script.
Two of the members from this over-polished Irish trio hail from boyband obscurity and you can tell.
For the most part it is sentimental drivel that is so easy listening it is uncomfortable. But they have managed to hoodwink a nation.
The Script tops the album chart in the UK and the band is on course for a glittering pop career to rival the likes of Travis, Starsailor and Maroon 5.
Fans will argue that it is 'Celtic Soul' combining the merits of hip-hop, mature pop and anthemic rock that is both intelligent, well-crafted and compelling.
Though musically they are accomplished, the lyrics are mawkish and the sound soppy – listen to The Man Who Can't Be Moved.
This band is here to stay. Just don't expect me to listen to them.
