That band that makes a difference – playing anything and everything from Elvis to Razorlight, every penny raised at their gigs is donated to CLIC Sargent, Cancer Care for Children.
Robert and Dave formed The Retros six years ago in memory of a close friend and former band member whom they lost to liver cancer.
“We’ve played around 170 gigs around this area, so far raising about £40,000 for CLIC”.
They fund all of their expenses themselves in order to give as much as possible to the charity.
They do not have one particular influence, instead preferring to play an eclectic mix of songs that span the eras.
For each gig they compile a song list, and for the donation of £1 the audience are able to request the song they would like to hear performed.
“We love to perform anywhere where people just want to enjoy themselves and get involved with the music, that’s what it’s about for us”.
Although their target audience is those in their ‘30’s, ‘40’s and ‘50’s, they have played a number of gigs to a younger crowd which have been greatly received.
Their ambition is to increase the number of gigs they do in order to raise even more for charity.
“We just want to keep performing and supporting this great charity”.
